Eye to Eye: Knowing Your Pet’s Limits Written by Service Pup Baxter & Princeton Valentine 7/17/24 Revised by Service Pup Baxter for Midwest Pet (8/30/26) Synopsis: Consent and communication are incredibly important pieces of a healthy, positive kink environment. These are especially important pieces for pups with disabilities in these spaces. Not all disabilities are visible, and some things get brushed over in the these spaces. In this class, I would like to discuss how I as a disabled person have navigated these spaces, the diXiculties I have encountered, and the ways I have personally found to overcome and work around these hurdles. My experience is not an “end all be all”, but hope that my life can act as a sort of case study to discuss:

  • Clear definitions on disability and accommodations
  • Self-accountability and understanding one’s own baselines
  • “Self-advocacy”, autonomy and communication of said limits
  • Discussion on personal plans and tools to ensure needs are met, safely.
  • How my partners and friends “met me where I am at” in these spaces
  • Discussions on potential systemic accommodations. Through my experiences, I hope this will generate some awareness on these concepts and stimulate these conversations on disability awareness and accommodation within queer & kink spaces. This class is intended to take about 60 minutes. It will begin with talking about my/our lived experience(s), and then move into discussions on how that is navigated and any thoughts that then fellow

Presenter: Pup Scout (He/Him) and Pup Dodger (He/Him)

The Chicago Rose

An interactive discussion exploring pet play identities, communication, and inclusivity. Participants will share experiences, learn how different pet personas can connect and support one another, and discuss ways to create more welcoming spaces while addressing stereotypes and misconceptions.
